Paragon Tulip Bouquet Tea Cup and Saucer - Fabulous Colors!
Paragon Tea Cup and Saucer Tulip Bouquet
200.00 USD       Item 4-1052

A SHOWPIECE Paragon Teacup set - a delightful delicate tulip floral bouquet with pink peonies, freesia and more delicate flowers on pale pink!  The pastel pink works as a great background to show color depth variation of brush strokes.  A thin white border offsets the gold trim.  The trim on saucer is in good condition.  The cup has minor spot wear on the top of the handle but otherwise the gold trim is in good condition.  The color on the design is in good condition without fading or stains.  The cup measures 2 3/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide.  The saucer measures 5 1/4 inches across.  An absolutely GORGEOUS floral bouquet on this tea cup and saucer!

Backstamp 1938-52, numbered G5698/4, S, X on the saucer.  Tea cup has an "X. PARAGON By Appointment to H.M. The Queen & H.M. Queen Mary Fine China England Reg'd".

The backstamp is especially important to Paragon collectors, as Paragon numbered all of its patterns. The numbers were painted on the set by the person painting the set, and often by using the same color as on the set. The numbering was done before firing the glaze. Patterns had a series letter prefix eg. X, G, A, and a four digit number, and some also had a suffix eg. /1, /3, /4.
