Some wonderful Royal Albert pieces for your pleasure! The familiar name of Royal Albert has a distinguished history, with a long standing tradition of producting fine quality china. Read a brief history of the Royal Albert line below.
Royal Albert was first founded in 1894 by Thomas Clark Wild and mannufactured in T.C. Wild & Sons Limited, Crown China Works, Staffordshire, England. The first backstamp used the initials T.C.W. and was used until about 1905 when the backstamp with the Royal Albert name began to be used. In 1960 the company changed hands to the Pearson Group which also merged Royal Doulton brands under their manufacture. In 1993 the Royal Doulton group left to form its own company, and in December of 2002, all production in England ceased, the company moving manufacturing operations to Indonesia. Needless to say, avid collectors look for the Made in England stamp for all their collectible pieces.
The Royal Albert line produced many famous pattern names including Old English Rose, with its distinctive floral backstamp, and with its last production in 1977. Old Country Roses is another favorite. Royal Albert also produced specialty lines or series, some of which were named for the flowers of the month, tartans, cottages and country life.
Our collection of Royal Albert has a wide range of the various patterns, years, series and, of course, backstamps. All of our tea cups and saucers have the Made in England backstamp, so you can be confident that you are viewing collector pieces.
