FABULOUS rare signed powder pink tea cup and saucer by Hammersley & Co. The inside of the tea cup has a magnificent floral bouquet hand painted and signed by F. Howard. The tea cup has a gilt handle and gilt base with a very thick gold trim on the cup rim and saucer centre and rim. The backstamp is green with acorn and crown, Bone China, Hammersley & Co, Made in England. The dating of the backstamp appears to be from 1887 to 1932. The backstamp after 1932 contained (Loughton). There are few records of the Hammersley family china manufacturing that show the pattern names and numbers. This tea cup set is numbered 4977/3. The footed tea cup measures 2 1/2" tall by 4" across, the saucer measures 5 3/4" across with a deep 1" rise.
The set is in very good condition with only a few minor white color variations on the pink saucer. There is no evident gold wear. A rare and elegant set in the tradition of Hammersley's richly decorated and finely manufactured bone china.
